Veterinary Council of New Zealand (VCNZ) - Top of the Class Training for New Zealand’s Veterinarians
The Veterinary Council of New Zealand (VCNZ) is the statutory regulator of the veterinary profession responsible for upholding standards that protect the veterinary practice. It registers veterinarians, issues annual practising certificates, sets standards for education and conduct, manages complaints and disciplinary processes, and advises government on veterinary and educational matters. VCNZ delivers targeted biosecurity training at the request of government, an uncommon role for a regulator.

THE PROBLEM
VCNZ faced a challenge delivering and tracking professional education for veterinarians. Under a national biosecurity preparedness initiative, it was tasked to train and accredit 200 veterinarians, with plans to expand the program to all practising vets.
THE IMPACT
RESULTS
VCNZ implemented TopClass to deliver and manage its national biosecurity training programme. The platform provides a central system to deliver training, track completion and maintain accurate records, accessible through the Council’s existing portal. It enables VCNZ to identify authorised participants and manage training and records efficiently, with staff able to administer the system without prior LMS experience.
